Jakarta - The Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, HE Greg Moriarty recently hosted a reception to congratulate 2013 Australia Awards recipients. Seventeen highly qualified candidates from Indonesia were awarded the Australia Awards Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships.  They will now undertake study in Australia at various institutions across different award categories in areas as diverse as Education and Librarianship.

Every year, the Australian Government grants more than 500 scholarships to Indonesians to study in Australia through the Australia Awards program. This includes the Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Awards which are awarded to the top 20 Australia Awards Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships recipients in Asia.  The Australian Government has been providing scholarships to Indonesians for 60 years. Since 1999, there have been more than 5800 scholarships awarded to Indonesians.

Ambassador HE Greg Moriarty highlighted the importance of Australian Government Scholarship for skills development and noted the contribution they make to strengthening bilateral people-to-people and professional linkages.  Australia Awards recipients contribute greatly to Indonesian development, returning from Australia with new ideas and knowledge and assuming positions of leadership in their chosen fields.
